The Death of Free Speech in America

For if Men are to be precluded from offering their Sentiments on a matter, which may involve the most serious and alarming consequences, that can invite the consideration of Mankind, reason is of no use to us; the freedom of Speech may be taken away, and, dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep, to the Slaughter.
~ George Washington

No government should be without critics.   If its intentions are good, then it has nothing to fear from criticism.
I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.

~ Thomas Jefferson

For the people to rule wisely, they must be free to think and speak without fear of reprisal.
~ James Madison

Freedom of speech is a principal pillar of a free government.   When this support is taken away, the constitution of a free society is dissolved.
~ Benjamin Franklin

In 1948, the United Nations finally recognized free speech as a basic human right as affirmed in the International Declaration of Human Rights.   America’s founding fathers were well ahead of other nations in their understanding and providing protections for our inalienable human rights.

People freely expressing their opinions has been contentious throughout human history.   Some people are so disturbed by others’ expressing their opinions that they are incapable of controlling their own emotions.   However, their right to oppose the opinion of another ends before their fist reaches the tip of the provocateur’s nose.   Our founding fathers understood that truth can only become known when people can speak freely without reprisal.   For this reason, it was written into the 1st Amendment to ensure that your right to speak freely is protected.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

There has been an erosion of free speech in America for decades.   Today we hear conservatives ask what happen to liberals for they were the advocates of free speech in the 1960s.   Anyone making those claims either did not live through those times or does not have an understanding of the historical truth.   In the 1950s, liberal and atheist organizations brought about lawsuits to remove religious values and opinions from every aspect of daily life.   The Supreme Court ruled in Engel v. Vitale (1962) that prayer in public schools was a violation of the Establishment Clause of the 1st Amendment.   And thus began the attack on Religious Freedoms and the decline of America’s Morality.

Liberals only began to show an interest in advocating for free speech after comedians Lenny Bruce, and later, George Carling had been arrested for using profanity in their standup routines.   Liberals and Democrats claimed profanity or using God’s name in vain was freedom of expression protected under the 1st Amendment.   If conservatives complained or argued an opposing view, they were shamed by liberals stating that words don’t hurt people, and conservatives needed to learn how to control their emotions.

After SCOTUS rulings granted 1st Amendment protections for the use of obscenities in public, liberals joined the cause of Larry Flint and others.   Liberals and Democrats championed the cause of pornography and its exploitation of women as protected under the 1st Amendment.   The SCOTUS made several rulings throughout the 1960s and 1970s granting 1st Amendment protections to pornography in private and public life, furthering the decline of morality.   With their two wins, liberals were emboldened to force the issue of burning the American flag as protected free speech.

In Texas v. Johnson (1989), the Supreme Court finally took up this controversial issue and ruled that burning any flag in public is protected as free speech under the first amendment.   If there is a bedrock principle underlying the First Amendment, it is that the Government may not prohibit the expression of an idea simply because society finds the idea itself offensive or disagreeable ~ Justice William Brennan.   However, a black Cuban American expressing his right to free speech was convicted and sent to prison for burning a BLM flag in public.   Liberals and Democrats always were, and still are only for one form of speech, what they call the right speech.   If it did not support their political agenda, it is verboten.

Politicians manipulate and reframe discourse in order to control public opinion.   This is known as the Window of Discourse or Overton Window as was first demonstrated by American policy analyst Joseph Overton in the 1990s.   Initially, Democrats struggled with trying to figure out how to manipulate public opinion with their first Big Lie, Global Warming.   With the support of elitists, Democrats learned how to use the Psychology of Framing and continually worked and shifted the Overton Window transitioning to Climate Change.   Prior to their mastery of the Overton Window, liberals and Democrats adopted and have followed the agenda of Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals.

Starting in the 1970s, you can find numerous articles by liberals praising Alinsky’s agenda as tried-and-true rules for creating meaningful social change.   Hillary Clinton was so enamored by Saul Alinsky’s radical views that she wrote her 88-page master’s thesis justifying Alinsky’s ideas for overthrowing America’s democracy based on the book he dedicated to Satan.   Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom – Lucifer. ~ Saul Alinsky

Saul Alinsky taught, in order for radicals to overthrow a government they must change the balance of power; in order to change the balance of power, radicals must organize; in order to organize, radicals must first polarize; in order to polarize, radicals must first personalize.   In every conflict, radicals need to create a villain that people can view as personally embodying all that is evil and unjust.   People only act decisively with conviction when they believe they are on the side of good and the enemy is on the side of evil.   Does this tactic sound familiar?

Following the guidance of Richard Cloward, Frances Fox Piven, and Saul Alinsky, the progressive movement of the Democratic party developed a specific creed to manipulate and control the Overton Window of public opinion:
     1. Everyone must use the same phraseology when telling a lie to create the illusion of truth.
     2. Repeat the lie often so people will come to believe that it is true.
     3. Always accuse your enemy of the offenses that you want to perpetuate.   Even if the truth is found out,
by repeating this process over and over, advocates for the cause will never be dissuaded by the actual truth.

This process is very dangerous in that it leads to Mass Psychogenic Illness (MPI), more commonly known as mass hysteria.   Due to the natural hierarchy of social structures, when leaders create narratives that leads to one group of people being alienated by another, MPI drives large groups of people to act out their fears.   History shows us this has occurred in every culture throughout civilization.   Most notably to us in the west with the; Spanish Inquisition (1478-1834), Salem Witch Trials (1692-1693), and mass genocides of Socialism and Communism in the 20th century.

Free speech and the free press must be restored if America is going to survive its current state of mass hysteria.   Truth is the light that overcomes darkness and only the truth can set us free!
